ASUS Qube: A Misspelled Moniker Makes its Debut as ASUS’s First Google TV Set Top Box

The moment I’ve been waiting for: the unveiling of the ASUS Qube. This once dongle-like instrument has taken on an entirely new form while becoming ASUS’s first Google TV set top box.

While we don’t have much info on the Qube, we know it will feature a not-so-unique and purposely misspelled “Qube” interface (in the shape of a cube nevertheless). Other than the “Qube” interface, this Google TV set top box should have all the latest Google TV features such as Voice Search and more.

Not exactly what I was hoping for (it’s just another Google TV set top box) and just reiterates my opinion that Google TV as a platform is being neglected. Hopefully this thing performs better than the Co-Star — and cost around the same.

[Update: some more info and pics]

  • A remote control with a QWERTY keyboard
  • 2 HDMI out ports
  • An Ethernet connection
  • USB
  • An IR blaster
  • Retail between $100-120 (I like that price)
