Guess who else has a fancy little countdown clock on their website to get fans excited for Mobile World Congress 2013? That’s right, ASUS! You didn’t think they were going to let LG and HTC have all the fun, did you?

If you head over to http://www.asus.com/event/2013/mwclive/, you’ll find a sleek little clock counting down to February 25th — a date at which Pad and Phone will come together, according to ASUS.

There’s only one device that comes to mind when you mention ASUS, Pad, and Phone all in one sentence: the ASUS Padfone.

The Padfone was a unique and interesting concept which troves of consumers would have loved to have purchased. The only problem was the device experienced delay after delay until it was all but irrelevant. Not to mention it saw a limited release and a ridiculously unreasonable price.

ASUS tried again with the Padfone 2, only to make the same mistakes all over again. It really was a shame because there was a plethora of eager consumers waiting to make the Padfone their next device.

Now with this MWC teaser, could we be seeing another Padfone? Perhaps ASUS has finally realized that they need to make the device readily available and affordable. Perhaps their success with the Nexus 7 has spawned a new train of thought within the ASUS camp and now they’re ready to give the Padfone a proper go?
