[Root] Unofficial Port Brings XPOSED to Android 5.1

About two months ago, we were greeted with XPOSED support for Android devices running Lollipop 5.0.x — albeit a very alpha build. XPOSED gives users the ability to download modules that grant extra features to their devices that normally you’d have to have a ROM for. XPOSED creator Rovo89 previously said that this new version wouldn’t work with Android 5.1+, but thanks to an XDA developer, we now have a working build for Android 5.1.

XDA Senior Member, Romracer, with permission from Rovo89, has modified the XPOSED framework to work with Lollipop 5.1 — with a designation of “Super Alpha.” With this modified version of XPOSED, Romracer is hoping that the change will stick and that Rovo89 may be able to merge them into an official build.

For installation there are a few things to be aware of. For one, the process is the same as for Android 5.0.x: Flash the xposed51.zip, then install the installer.apk. There’s also a bridgeapi.jar for module developers, in the case they want to make use of the new features. Also, if your device has little space on /system then the .zip may have trouble installing. Lastly, if XPOSED didn’t install on your Android 5.0.x device, then it likely won’t install now — here’s looking at you Samsung.

If you feel brave enough to install this “Super Alpha” build to your device then head on over to the XDA thread and start downloading. Remember, if you have any issues, be sure to have a logcat/XPOSED log present.
