Google Releases a Cute and Educational App: YouTube Kids
Today Google has added a new app to its rather immense catalog: Youtube Kids. This app is a filtered variant of their ever-popular YouTube app and only features videos that parents would find appropriate for their kids. With YouTube Kids you can hand your device over to your kids without much need to worry.
Once the app is opened, you’re greeted with very large video thumbnails along with a navigation bar at the top with symbols for: TV, Music, Educational content, Browsing, and also a button for Search. There’s background music throughout the app and child-like tones are played when any button is pressed. Within settings, parents can enable “parental-settings” which then allow them to enable a timer, disable the background music, or disable the search button.
All the videos are curated (some content is sorted into playlists and channels) so that when a search is made, no matter what the keyword is, only videos of cartoons, gaming, scholastic content and the like are shown. YouTube Kids puts the kibosh on any NSFW content or keywords (which includes words such as “kissing”), leaving parents to decide when their young ones are ready for more mature content.
Go download YouTube Kids now and let the youngsters hit the town with videos that won’t harm their precious minds. You can grab the app from the Play Store using the widget below.
