Gingerbread Steadily Declining as Android 4.0+ Nears 50-percent Adoption
It’s that time again. The time when we get to see what percentage of Android devices are running which versions of Android. This data is extremely useful to developers and great statistical fodder for us bloggers.
Last month, we saw the disappearance of Cupcake, and I’m sad to report, it’s still gone. On the bright side, Donut is still holding on with a 0.2% share of the pie.
You’ll also find Android 4.0+ steadily reaching respectable numbers, combining to make up 42.6% of Android devices visiting the Google Play store within a 14-day period ending on February 4, 2013.
Unfortunately, Gingerbread still remains the top dog, accounting for 45.6% of the Android devices accessing Google Play. With the lead narrowing, I expect Android 4.0+ to overtake Gingerbread this time next month.
It’s nice to see more recent versions of Android making their way to devices, and it makes me happy to know more individuals are now enjoying the many features Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean have to offer.
