Sharp Announces two new Bezel-less Devices

It’s no secret that phone OEMs are trying to fit larger screens into smaller bodies. With phones like the LG G3 (and G4) and the new Zenfone 2, bezels are getting smaller and screens are getting bigger. One of the leaders in bezel-less devices happens to be Sharp whose Aquos Crystal showed us just how much screen, and how little bezel, a device could feature. Keeping with their bezel free mantra, Sharp has just unveiled two new phones that also feature a bezel-less display.

These phones are the Aquos Xx and the Sharp Aquos Crystal 2. Sharp has done something a little bit different for their line of bezel-free phones. They now have both a high-end and mid-range selection. The Aquos Xx is Sharp’s high-end device. It features a 5.7-inch screen, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Before you ask, yes, the screen is 1080p. The Aquos Xx also has a Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3000mAh battery to keep up. You’ll also get a 13.1 megapixel camera and Lollipop upon first boot. This model is water resistant, so you can take it with you to the pool if need be (just don’t dive in with it).

The Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 continues on the quest for a nice mid-range device with gorgeous design. On the front of the device, you’ll find a 5.2-inch screen packed into a bezel-less display and a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera. Inside you have 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. The Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 is water resistant as well. The Aquos Xx comes in black, white, and red, while the Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 comes in blue, white, black and red.

We’re not exactly sure when and if these devices will be coming to the US but since we did see the Sharp Aquos Crystal on Sprint and Boost, we’re hopeful the Crystal 2 and Xx will follow suit. We’re just going to have to wait and see at this point. What do you think about these new Sharp phones?
