The LG G4 is Here! In all of its Leathery Glory

The day has finally come, through all the leaks and teases from the community and LG, they have finally made the G4, their latest and greatest flagship, official. The G4 looks to be LG prime combatant against the S6 and all the other Android flagships out in the wild right now. Plus, LG has given the G4 a very peculiar fabric design to keep the device….unique.

The G4 seems to have taken cues from LG’s G Flex 2 and G3 and put both of them into one very well made package. On the outside we’ve got a 5.5” QHD IPS Quantum dot Display, the Quantum part simply means that the colors are going to be brighter and more brighter while the pixels will be less noticeable than ever. The G4 also implements LG’s new slim arc design which is the very slight curve that we saw in the G Flex 2.

On the inside we’re looking at a 1.8GHz 64 Bit Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with X10 LTE paired with 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and the option of using a microSD card. There’s a 3000 mAH removable battery to keep that display powered on all day, with extras such as: 4.1BLE, 4K Slimport support, and NFC. Of course the phone is also running Android 5.1 out of the box and LG UX version 4.0, which is very nice to see.

Another big point that people like to know about is the camera, the G4 has an 8MP front camera with an aperture of f/2.0 while on the back is a 16MP shooter with a f/1.8 aperture (beating out the S6’s 1.9) with the ability of OIS, RAW capture, and LG’s laser autofocus. Both cameras come with many new shooting modes, such as Quick Shot for the rear and Gesture Interval Shot for the front camera.

Some last things to note are the removable back plates come in different colors and styles (leather and plastic) and all G4 will come with a free 100GB Google Drive offer. We weren’t given a price point or availability date during the conference but it seems like June will be the US arrival month (for the top 5 carriers) and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a price point around $250 on contract, $649 off.

Aesthetics aside, how does this new flagship look to you guys? I can’t wait to try it out in the near future, seems like a great contender.
