LG Watch Urbane is LG’s Newest Android Wear Watch

Over the weekend, LG clocked its way into the inboxes of media outlets across the globe with its latest and greatest product: the LG Watch Urbane. The LG Watch Urbane will be LG’s third Android Wear watch in less than a year, and you know what they say: third time’s a charm.

The Watch Urbane has several unique features that we have yet seen from the Korean company. One of the first things to note is that this interation drops the ‘G’ from it’s name (previous iterations were the G Watch and the G Watch R). Secondly, and probably most importantly, is the watch’s all metal design — making the watch appear more classy, akin to the Moto 360 rather than the G Watch R.

The Watch Urbane is also our third circular Wear watch to date and sports the following specs:

  • Chipset: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 400
  • Operating System: Android Wear™
  • Display: 1.3-inch P-OLED Display (320 x 320, 245ppi)
  • Size: 45.5 x 52.2 x 10.9mm
  • Memory: 4GB eMMC / 512MB LPDDR2
  • Battery: 410mAh
  • Sensors: 9-Axis (Gyro / Accelerometer / Compass) / Barometer / PPG (Heart Rate Sensor)
  • Colors: Gold / Silver
  • Other: Dust and Water Resistant (IP67)

The Watch Urbane specs seem to be on par with what we’ve seen from other smartwatches. Of course in the press release, LG omitted any details regarding release date, availability, and pricing. My money is that LG will keep us in the dark until MWC (Mobile World Congress), which happens to be in a few weeks.

Is the Urbane the classy Wear watch that you’re wrist has been waiting for or are you holding out for something else?
